In Between
Artists: Juan Aizpitarte, Elvin Flamingo (Jarosław Czarnecki), Siniša Labrović, Davor Sanvincenti and Helena Wikström
In Between is an artistic platform that has travelled to neighbourhoods across Europe. The artists worked with different communities, local artists and cultural organisations, creating situations in neighbourhoods that increased communication in between various local communities. They listened and shared personal and communal stories through memories, exploring the every day to re-create social memory and to understand what is most important to peoples lives. They developed new ways of using, sharing and looking at public space and endeavoured to transform people into collaborators and to transform public space into creative space.

A living installation created together with local citizens in this diverse neighbourhood. A shared moment of personal and common transformation.
The place was temporary reversed and new connections were developed.
Dialogues, no matter what they looked like, formed a new society that somehow existed parallel with current society. Connections that hadn't yet coagulated into systems flow freely in the veins and backyards.
In northern parts of Sweden in December the daylight last only for four hours. In this darkness, is it possible to create an oasis of light and sound, and together create a memory or a conception of something else?
To live together in the world means essentially that a world of things is between those who have it in common as a table is located between those who sit around it; the world like every in-between, relates and separates men at the same time. This common world gathers us together and yet prevents our falling over each other, so to speak – it can create public space between individuals, within which political action is possible.
